Rapid Application Development with Mozilla by Nigel McFarlane,

Rapid Application Development with Mozilla by Nigel McFarlane,
A must-have read for anybody interested in learning to build sophisticated applications with the Mozilla application framework.--Mitchell Baker, President, The Mozilla Foundation Mozilla has grown to become a powerful framework for building cutting-edge web applications. Rapid Application Development with Mozilla is an indispensable guide for developers of such applications.--Brendan Eich, Chief Architect, The Mozilla Foundation, and Creator of JavaScript Far more than just a web browser, Mozilla is the platform of choice for today's application and web developer. An innovative blend of XML vocabularies, easy-to-use scripting languages, and pre-existing software objects, Mozilla is a powerful, standards-compliant platform whose functionality guarantees rapid application development (RAD). In Rapid Application Development with Mozilla, web, XML, and Open Standards expert Nigel McFarlane explores Mozilla's revolutionary XML User interface Language (XUL) and its library of well over 1,000 pre-built objects. Using clear and concise instruction, McFarlane explains what companies such as AOL, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and others already know--that Mozilla and XUL are the keys to quickly and easily creating cross-platform, web-enabled applications. Coverage includes: A detailed introduction to the fundamentals and capabilities of MozillaFull descriptions of Mozilla tools, including XUL, XBL, and XPCOMThe RDF data format and its interactions with XUL, including Listboxes, Chrome, Overlays, Trees, and TemplatesEvents, Forms, Menus, Navigation, and Commands using DOM, JavaScript(TM), and XULTips for integration into Windows(R) and Mac(R) systemsA guide to deployment of finishedapplicationsHundreds of examples, screenshots, and code listings An additional feature of Rapid Application Development with Mozilla is the NoteTaker Web browser add-on--a sample Mozilla application that is developed throughout the book.

Building Web Applications with UML by Jim Conallen,
Building Web Applications with UML by Jim Conallen,
This thoroughly revised Second Edition has been updated to reflect the latest techniques and issues surrounding the development of software and systems for the Web. You will find: 33The first edition of this book hit the streets late in 1999. For the most part, it was based on my experiences in developing Active Server Page-based applications for the retail and healthcare industries. I was an independent consultant then, but shortly before finishing the book I joined Rational Software Corporation. Working for Rational has given me the opportunity to visit and to work with many organizations that are in the process of building Web-centric applications. And I've seen everything, from well-managed teams producing top-quality software to chaotic teams desperately seeking the right guidance to a few others that still seem to be in denial. In the two years since the publication of the first edition, I've also seen the rise of the J2EE platform, and have to say that since then most of my Web application development experience has been with J2EE architectures. As a result, most of the material in this second edition is oriented toward the Java environment. This doesn't mean that .NET developers, or even Cold Fusion and PHP developers, can't build applications with the guidance in this book. You can. It's just that the majority of the examples in the design and implementation chapters, and in the reference applications, are written for JavaServer Page-based applications. The ideas in this book and in the previous edition are all the result of a desire to combine my object-oriented skills and the area of Web application development. I had little problem applying use case analysis, and it wasn'tuntil I started creating analysis and design models that I realized things were going to get difficult. When creating a Web application, my conceptual focus was always on the Web page; and my idea of a model kept revolving around the concept of a site map.

Web engineering - Web engineering deals with design, development and implementation of large-scale Web applications. In particular, it focuses on the methodologies, techniques and tools that are the foundation of complex Web application development and which support their design, development, evolution, and evaluation.

Rational Application Developer - IBM WebSphere Studio Application Developer (WSAD) is an integrated development environment (IDE) for visually designing, constructing, testing, and deploying Web services, portals and Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE) applications.

Mozilla Application Suite - The Mozilla Application Suite (originally known as Mozilla, marketed as the Mozilla Suite, and code named Seamonkey) is a free, cross-platform internet suite, whose components include a web browser, an email and news client, an HTML editor, and an IRC client.
